A Breakfast, Worth Waking Up For...
All too often breakfast is over looked, a hastily buttered slice of toast and a cup of coffee you don't have time to drink. At The Ashton breakfast is our favorite meal. One to be lingered over and enjoyed, full of fresh and nourishing foods. So in the morning you'll find our sideboard stocked with fresh juices, cereals, fruit salads, homemade compote & granola, creamy thick yoghurt & a selection of home baked breads.
Then once you've grazed choose something from our cooked menu. The dishes change with the seasons but our philosophy doesn't; fresh & local is best. Our bacon & sausage are all locally made from Lune Valley pigs, fish comes from Port of Lancaster Smokehouse and eggs from George on the farm next door.
Frozen Banana Smoothie - Porridge with banana, cream & maple syrup - Soft Boiled Eggs & Soldiers - Eggs Benedict or Royale - Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs - Herby Mushrooms & Poached Eggs on Granary Toast - Breakfast Muffin, stacked with dry cure bacon, local sausages & eggs - Brioche French Toast with Bacon & Syrup - Smashed Avo on Rye with Poached Eggs & Chilli - Full Lancashire Cooked Breakfast - Vegetarian Cooked Breakfast with Halloumi.
Monday to Thursday evenings we serve a simple supper between 6-8pm. A bowl of something hearty and wholesome with salad, bread and a glass of wine is £20. Perfect if you've been at work all day and don't want to venture out again or have spent hours in the car driving up or down the motorway. If you'd like this then please let me know the day before arrival, along with any likes or dislikes.
Lancaster's food offering is quite individual & independent, you won't find a Pizza Express or Nando's on the high street. Instead we have locally owned places covering most cuisines & budgets. On booking I'll email over a short guide to the places I head for, whether it's for a mid-week pizza or a special Saturday night out. You'll find details of a few & links to their websites on the links page.
